It’s only right that we compare their specs and features and figure out which one has the best value for me. The Huawei P30 Lite is the little brother of the Huawei P30, which is so far among best smartphones released this 2019. The Galaxy A50 is from Samsung’s new A-series which has released a ton of smartphones already this year.
Huawei P30 Lite VS Samsung Galaxy A50 – Design
Their design is somewhat similar to each other. They both feature a front glass, waterdrop notch with plastics unibody. On their back is a triple camera system with LED flash below it. The Huawei P30 Lite features a rear-mounted fingerprint reader which is not the case with the Galaxy A50. The fingerprint reader of the Galaxy A50 is located underneath its display.
The P30 Lite is lighter and slimmer making it appealing with an elegant hold to the hand. It weighs just 159 grams and measures 7.4 mm thick. While the Galaxy A50 weighs 166 grams and measures 7.7 mm thick. The P30 Lite comes in body colour options of Peacock Blue, Midnight Black, and Pearl White. Whereas, the Galaxy A50 comes in Black, White, Blue, and Coral body colours.
Huawei P30 Lite VS Samsung Galaxy A50 – Display
Samsung Galaxy A50 bosses the Huawei P30 Lite when it comes to the display. The Galaxy A50 sports a Super AMOLED display with 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution and 403 PPI density. Samsung owns the AMOLED technology, so we shouldn’t be surprised when their mid-range device comes with it. The Huawei P30 Lite packs the regular IPS LCD display with 1080 x 2312 pixels resolution and 415 PPI density.
The camera aspect of the Huawei P30 Lite is in two configurations. The one you get will depend on the market you’re purchasing the smartphone from. It has a 48MP + 8MP + 2MP triple rear camera module or a 24MP + 8MP + 2MP camera module. While the Galaxy A50 has a standard 25MP + 8MP + 5MP triple rear camera. For the selfies, the Galaxy A50 sports a 25MP snapper with f/2.0 aperture. Whereas the P30 Lite comes with either a 24MP or 32MP selfie snapper.
Hardware and Software
The Samsung Galaxy A50 is powered by Exynos 9610 SoC built on 10nm manufacturing process technology. This is really a steal for a smartphone of this price range cause this Exynos 9610 is a high-end chipset comparable to Snapdragon 835/845. Meanwhile, the P30 Lite is powered with Huawei’s in-house Kirin 710 SoC, which is built on 12nm manufacturing process technology.
The Huawei P30 Lite has memory version of either 4GB or 6GB RAM with 128GB of storage. While the Galaxy A50 has both memory version along with a 4GB RAM with 64GB storage. Both phones run on Android 9.0 Pie based on a different user interface. The Huawei P30 Lite is based on EMUI 9.0 while the Galaxy A50 is based on One UI.
The battery capacity available on the Galaxy A50 is a non-removable Li-Po 4000 mAh and uses a 15W fast charger. While for the Huawei P30 Lite is a non-removable Li-Po 3340 mAh battery with an 18W fast charger.
The Samsung Galaxy A50 goes for about $282 while the Huawei P30 Lite goes for about $316. From this comparison, we can tell that the Galaxy A50 is the phone with better value. Not only is it cheaper, but it has a better display, battery and hardware.
