Samsung Galaxy M30 VS Samsung Galaxy M20 – The new Galaxy M-series is a budget series from Samsung. Today we’ll be comparing their newest two smartphones under the series – Samsung Galaxy M30 and Samsung Galaxy M20. The Galaxy M30 is about $60 costlier than the Galaxy M20. The real question we’ll try to find out is if the Galaxy M30 is worthy of the extra bucks.
Samsung Galaxy M30 VS Samsung Galaxy M20 – Design
The design is pretty much the same on both Galaxy budget phones. They both feature a polish matte plastic unibody with front glass. The Galaxy M30 measures 8.8 mm in thickness, which is 0.4 mm thicker than the Galaxy M20’s 8.4 mm. They both feature a teardrop notch and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. However, the Galaxy M30 comes with a triple rear camera. While on the Galaxy M20 is a dual rear camera.

The Galaxy M30 is superior in the display type. It sports a Super AMOLED display which measures 6.4 inches. Whereas, the Galaxy M20 sports a PLS TFT display which measures 6.3 inches. The display resolution is the same on both phones – 1080 x 2340 pixels and 19.5:9 aspect ratio.
The Galaxy M20 comes up short in the camera department. It sports a dual main camera system with 13 MP + 5 MP sensors. Whereas on the Galaxy M30 is a triple camera system with 13 MP and dual 5 MP sensors. The Galaxy M30 camera can shoot 4K videos. While the Galaxy M20 can only shoot 1080p videos.
Moving over to the front, the Galaxy M30 sports a 16 MP snapper with f/2.0 aperture. While the Galaxy M20 sports an 8 MP snapper with f/2.0 aperture.
This is where the Galaxy M20 is a match with the Galaxy M30. Both phones pack Exynos 7904 chipset with an Octa-core processor and Mali-G71 MP2 GPU. They both have a 4GB/64GB memory variant. The Galaxy M30 comes with a bigger 6GB/128GB variant. While the Galaxy M20 comes with a smaller 3GB/32GB variant.
Aside from the hardware, the software department also sees a match. They both run on Android 8.1 Oreo with Samsung experience 9.5 UI on top of it.
Both the Galaxy M30 and the Galaxy M20 comes with a 5,000 mAh battery capacity. And also supports the same 15W fast battery charger.
Both smartphones are powered by Exynos 7904 SoC and 5000 mAh battery. The Galaxy M30 features a triple rear camera setup that can record 4K video. While the Galaxy M20 comes with a dual rear camera setup and can’t record 4K video. Even in the display category, the Galaxy M30 features a Super AMOLED display. You’re better off adding the extra bucks and buy the Galaxy M30 instead.
