The Samsung Galaxy Watch is the latest addition to Samsung‘s smartwatch line. Smartwatches are now becoming popular in the market. This is majorly due to the incentive of wanting to keep fit and knowing your heart rate and other related things on the go. One of the highlights of this smartwatch is its compatibility. The smartwatch is compatible with both the Android operating system and iOS operating system. The Galaxy Watch is available in two models: 46mm and 42mm.

Samsung Galaxy Watch Design

The main body of the Galaxy Watch is made from a 316L corrosion resistant stainless steel, which is polished to a high sheen. It features a 5 ATM/IP68 waterproofing plus a MIL-STD-810G accreditation. The 46mm model weighs 63 grams and measures 49 x 46 x 13 mm in dimensions. While the 42 mm model weighs 49 grams and measures 45.7 x 41.9 x 12.7 mm in dimensions.

In terms of colours available, the 46mm model comes in only a silver body colour. Whereas the 42mm model is available in Midnight Black and Rose Gold. The straps of the 46mm model come in Onyx Black, Deep Ocean Blue and Basalt Grey colours. While the straps of the 42mm model come in Onyx Black, Lunar Grey, Terracotta Red, Lime Yellow, Cosmo Purple, Pink Beige, Cloud Grey and Natural Brown colours.

Samsung Galaxy Watch Display

The Samsung Galaxy Watch is a premium smartwatch with a Super AMOLED touchscreen. The screen size measures 1.3 inches on the 46mm model. While the 42mm model comes with a 1.2 inches screen size. The display features 360 x 360 pixels, 1:1 aspect ratio and 278 PPI density.

The display of this smartwatch is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass DX+, which provides super scratch resistance according to Corning. The smartwatch features an always-on display with rotating bezels.

Health & Fitness

Samsung is a collaboration with the University of California in the health & fitness related stuff concerning this smartwatch. There are enhanced software and algorithms now available to better interpret the fluctuations and measurements in heart rate data captured. The collaboration also yields results in health insights predicting Sleep Apnea, Atrial Fibrillation and Hypertension.

The Galaxy Watch is programmed to track your floors, sleep, steps and calories burned throughout the day. Heart rate tracking accuracy is close to perfection.


Both models of the Samsung Galaxy Watch uses Samsung’s Exynos 9110 chipset with two cores clocked at 1.15 GHz. This chipset is specifically made for smartwatches and will help battery life.

The Galaxy Watch comes with 768MB RAM with 4GB of storage for apps & media. The LTE model doubles up the RAM size to 1.5GB.

Android fans won’t like this one to a degree as the Galaxy Watch doesn’t operate with the OS. Running on the smartwatch is Tizen 4.0 OS with features such as goodnight mode, watch faces, daily assistant, read notification aloud, show last app and Bixby.

Both models support Qi wireless charging. According to Samsung, the 46mm model can last up to 7 days. While the 42mm model can last up to 4 days.
