The Nokia 4.2 is the latest affordable smartphone from HMD Global. The device looks to be a real deal when it comes to value for money. It was even called a “mini flagship” by HMD Global during its launch at the Mobile World Congress 2019. Let’s review this affordable mini flagship 🙂
Nokia 4.2 Design
The Nokia 4.2 features a premium look that’s appealing to the eyes. Maybe cause the front and glass is covered by a 2.5D glass with a polycarbonate frame. The edges are curved with rounded corners. The phone measures 149 x 71.3 x 8.4 mm in dimensions and weighs 161 grams.
The front of the Nokia 4.2 features a teardrop notch with a visible bottom bezel which houses the Nokia brand name. The back features a dual camera setup with LED flash at the top centre in a vertical direction. Below the camera setup is a fingerprint scanner. The Nokia 4.2 is available in only Black and Pink Sand body colours. On the left-hand side is a button for quick access to Google Assistant.

The screen of the Nokia 4.2 features a 5.71 inches HD+ display. The display comes with a 76.6% screen-to-body ratio with a 19:9 aspect ratio. The resolution display is 720 x 1520 pixels with 295 PPI density.

This low-cost mini flagship comes with a dual rear camera system, which features a main 13 MP sensor with a 2 MP depth sensor. The main sensor features f/2.2 aperture, 1.12µm pixel size and PDAF. The front camera which is in the teardrop notch features an 8 MP shooter with f/2.0 aperture and 1.12µm pixel size.

In terms of performance, the Nokia 4.2 comes with Snapdragon 439 chipset. The chipset still manages to feature Octa-core processor clocked 2.0 GHz with Adreno 505 graphics processing unit. We still believe Nokia should have used a chipset from the 600-series. The Nokia 4.2 is available in two memory variants; 2GB RAM with 16GB storage & 3GB RAM with 32GB storage.

The good thing about the Nokia 4.2 is that it runs on Android 9.0 Pie, which is the latest version of the operating software. This smartphone is a part of Google’s Android One program. This means the Nokia phone has no user interface and solely depends on Google’s OS for customization. You’re guaranteed the major updates from Google for two years when you buy this smartphone.
