by Obodoakor Moses

The Nokia 9 PureView arrives at the Mobile World Congress 2019 in Barcelona, Spain. The flagship smartphone comes with five rear camera lenses in a bid to add great detail to normal photos. Officially it becomes the first smartphone with five cameras at the back, so big ups to HMD Global. This flagship device will compete with other brand’s flagship of 2019 like the Samsung Galaxy S10, Xiaomi Mi 9 and LG G8 ThinQ.

Nokia 9 PureView Design

HMD Global made sure the Nokia 9 PureView is different from regular flagships in the market. The smartphone features no notch of any kind or punch-hole camera. It comes with a rather conservative display with bezels lacking on both sides. While the top and bottom feature visible small bezels. At the back of the PureView smartphone is the five cameras arranged in a circular fashion with TOF (Time-of-Flight) sensor and LED flash at the top.

The Nokia flagship features a 6000 series aluminium frame with front and back Corning gorilla glass 5. It’s IP67 water resistant rated, which should survive in water of 1-metre depth for 30 minutes. In dimensions, the Nokia device measures 155 x 75 x 8 mm and weighs 172 grams. Overall, this Nokia 2019 flagship is an attractive smartphone that comes in only Midnight Blue body colour.

The camera is kind of the highlight and most exciting of the Nokia 9 PureView. Like we said in the introduction, the Nokia 9 PureView features a five-camera setup, where all lenses have the same fixed focal length of 28mm. There is no wide-angle or telephoto lens here.

All the five cameras feature the same 12 MP lens with f/1.8 aperture. Two of the cameras are RGB (Red, Green and Blue). While the other three cameras are monochrome.

Nokia opted against using wide-angle or telephoto lenses because they want photographers to see this smartphone as a real camera, which features a fixed prime lens. The prime lens will offer better image quality with a fixed focal length so you don’t have to zoom in or out.

The selfie camera of the Nokia 9 PureView is a single 20 MP lens with 1.0µm pixel size and HDR.
