The Oppo Reno 10x Zoom is the company’s flagship to start the year 2019. Oppo is not letting the motorized pop-up selfie camera fade away, first, it was the Oppo F11 Pro and now the Reno series (Oppo Reno 5G, Oppo Reno and Oppo Reno 10x Zoom) all features pop-up selfie camera. This flagship is in line to compete with other 2019 flagship in the market such as the Huawei P30, Huawei P30 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S10 and Xiaomi Mi 9.
Oppo wants users to focus on the 10x hybrid zoom tech of this smartphone, which is why they went with this naming. But it won’t be the first smartphone with this feature as the Huawei P30 Pro already claimed that title even though Oppo first showed off the technology during the Mobile World Congress 2019.
Oppo Reno 10x Zoom Design
Like most flagship smartphones, the Reno 10x zoom features a front and back glass with aluminium frame sandwiching them. At the top is where you’ll find the ‘shark fin’ pop-up, which houses the front camera and also the LED flash of the triple rear camera. According to Oppo, this pop-up mechanism can go 200,000 without damage. Rough mathematics shows even if you pop-up the camera 100 times in a day, it will still take you about 5 years to reach that limit. Not sure people use a smartphone for 5 years this day.
The Oppo Reno 10x zoom is quite heavy, weighing 210 grams. As if that isn’t enough, it goes to measure 9.3 mm in thickness, which is rather too chunky. The body colour options available on this flagship is just two; Ocean Green and Jet Black. The mid-range version (Oppo Reno) has about four body colour options. The fingerprint scanner is located underneath the display screen.
