The Xiaomi Mi 9 Explorer is the pro variant of the Xiaomi Mi 9, just like we saw with last year’s Mi 8. The Xiaomi Mi 9 Explorer features transparent back that allows you to see the inside of the phone. Not sure everybody is a fan of transparent back smartphones. Still, we can’t deny this smartphone here isn’t a beauty. Let’s have a look at the device.
Xiaomi Mi 9 Explorer Design
Mind you, the transparent back on the Mi 9 Explorer isn’t real. The Corning Gorilla glass 5 at the back is made to look like the components you would normally see underneath. This design is brought to you by Alita Battle Angel even though it’s not acknowledged here.
The Mi 9 Explorer measures a sleek 7.6 mm thickness with the frame made up of aluminium (7000) series. It weighs 173 grams, which isn’t considered to be heavy. There’s no fingerprint scanner at the back. You’ll find the scanner underneath the display. The transparent black is the only colour option here.

The Xiaomi Mi 9 Explorer’s display features HDR-10 and DCI-P3. The display is a 6.39 inches Super AMOLED touchscreen with 85.2% screen-to-body ratio. The resolution on the Mi 9 Explorer is 1080 x 2340 pixels, 19.5:9 aspect ratio and 403 PPI density. The Gorilla Glass 6 protects the display of the Mi 9 Explorer.
