The Xiaomi Mi 9 is the first smartphone from the Xiaomi to feature the new Snapdragon 855 chipset. It’s also the first flagship of 2019 and was unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. The Xiaomi Mi 9 succeeds last year’s Mi 8 and comes with a triple rear camera set up – the first ever on a Xiaomi phone.
Xiaomi Mi 9 Design
The Xiaomi Mi 9 design is similar to what we see on most flagships these days. The front and back glass with aluminium frame pretty much sums it up. But the front glass of the Mi 9 is Corning gorilla glass version 6. Whereas the back glass is Corning gorilla glass version 5. Version 6 features better endurance than version 5.
The Mi 9 weighs 173 grams, which is about 4 grams less than its predecessor – the Mi 8. It comes with dimensions of 157.5 x 74.7 x 7.6 mm. Under the display is where you’ll find the fingerprint sensor. The Mi 9 comes in Lavender Violet, Ocean Blue and Piano Black body colours. The Lavender Violet and Ocean Blue colours feature a gradient finish.

Xiaomi Mi 9 Display
The front of the Xiaomi Mi 9 is all home to its 6.39 inches Super AMOLED touchscreen. It features an 85.2% screen-to-body ratio and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The resolution of the display is 1080 x 2340 pixels and 403 PPI density. Xiaomi could have done better with the number of pixels. But the Super AMOLED display still makes it sharp, bright and detailed enough. The display of the Mi 9 sports DCI-P3 and HDR-10.

Xiaomi Mi 9 Camera
The Xiaomi Mi 9 becomes the first Xiaomi smartphone with a triple rear camera setup. The setup on this phone packs a 48 MP primary lens, 16 MP ultrawide lens and 12 MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom. 4K videos can be shot on the Mi 9 at 30/60fps. Sadly, we aren’t getting a dual selfie cam. Instead, the Mi 9 comes with a 20 MP selfie snapper with f/2.0 aperture.
